About Lensbox
Lensbox Inc. is an eyecare technology company that is passionate about empowering eye care practitioners to deliver the same, if not better, in-clinic patient experience in a virtual space. We do this by offering eye care practitioners a powerful suite of digital tools comprising industry compliant telehealth software, virtual diagnostic tools, a robust ecommerce engine, and a secure encrypted community platform, all with the aim of delivering the same TLC a patient would receive in-clinic. But that’s not all. Our aim to support eye care practitioners and their business means our tools address a holistic range of needs: sales, marketing, order and prescription fulfillment, patient engagement, and direct insurance billing to name a few.
Established in Canada in 2019, Lensbox has spent its initial years building relationships with innovative, like-minded doctors of optometry keen to disrupt the traditional eyecare model with our telehealth and ecommerce capabilities.
The Challenge
The challenge for Lensbox was to have a capable team which can build the functionalities which will be best for Doctors and Patients. A team that can turn doctors' vision into a product which would be able to do precise calculations for patients’ prescriptions and be user friendly for both Doctors and Patients.
Our Solution
1.
Real time messaging with practitioner and client. Including video calls and notifications.

Use of Augmented Reality to build vision tests functionalities. By using machine learning and AR we were able to detect the user's PD (the distance in millimeters (mm) between the center of one pupil to the center of the other).

We built a Snellen Chart into the application for testing the near and distance vision. For the near visual acuity test we showed the precise letter sizes in the screen to do correct tests and detected the proper distance between user and display. For the distance vision acuity test we built 2 solutions, one with another person’s help which will insert your answers. Another solution was built for a single person, we detected the user's hand position with the machine learning algorithms and added answers automatically.
